One of the things the NBA fans immediately noticed when the 2020-21 preseason started was that Luka Doncic wasn’t particularly well off. It was a surprise for the people, as all the speeches in the off-season seemed to focus on what the year would be like if Doncic took over the league.

In fact, most sports books have Doncic as a favorite for the NBA’s MVP 2020-21 award.

This week, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban explained why Doncic was a little out of shape at the beginning of the season.

In an appearance on Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 AM Ticket, the Cuban said that Doncic plans to spend this off-season with the Slovenian national team. It was a planned way to keep the 21-year-old girl in shape.

Unfortunately those plans failed because of COWID-19. And since Doncic could not train with the Slovenian national team, he had no chance to get in shape.

He’ll tell you he didn’t come in the shape he wanted, the Cuban said.

You can’t repeat all that work [scheduled for the off-season] in a hurry.

As far as Cuba is concerned, expectations need to be adjusted as the off-season gets shorter.

The guys won’t be as sharp as they were last season or the season before or after regular training camp, so it’ll be a little different,” he said.

And as you’ve seen in other sports, especially in the NFL, what happens in the first few weeks is different from what happens now towards the end of the season, when the boys have adopted a routine, a training program and a greater capacity to train.

The same goes for all NBA teams, including the Mavs and Lucas.

Although Doncic and his team had a difficult start to the season, they sometimes seemed dominant. In particular, they completely decimated the loss of 124-73 of the Los Angeles Clippers to Kawhi Leonard.

Doncic finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in 26 minutes of play.

Luke’s job is to make everyone on the field better and help us win matches, the Cuban said.

The reaction to Booger McFarland’s comments about black NFL players was about what one would expect.

We’ve seen what we can do about the Clippers. But we’ve seen what happens when you don’t shoot, like against the Suns and the Lakers, or when guys don’t do their job and fight the Lakers.

Luke knows that if that happens, he’ll be blamed, no matter what. But no one in the organization has changed our view of Lucas. We know he’s great. He’s in the top three and top five of the league, and he’s only getting better.

So far Doncic has an average of 27.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists per match.

This year he will officially establish himself as a player capable of leading his team to the playoffs? Time will tell.

That’s what it looks like: Kendrick Perkins, who plays the role of the new Dwyane Wade of the NBA.
