Welcome to the fifth edition of What’s On Tap in Chicago this weekend. This series of items is designed to bring you the best of Chicago entertainment on a weekly basis. For more information about what inspired this company, see the introduction of the link below.

With the relaxation of restrictions, this series of articles is expected to become more selective and focused as the number and volume of events increases.

Let’s plunge into the new year with everything ahead for the weekend from the 8th to the 10th. January 2021 takes place in the Chicagoland area.

Christmas lighting

Lighting: Tree lighting at Morton Arboretum

In the Morton Arboretum there is a light show with light, music and other forms of Christmas celebrations. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Tickets for this weekend.

Rocky Mountain Night Lights Santa Claus Fair in Lake County

There is a light show at the Lake District Fairgrounds that lasts about 20-30 minutes. All lights are synchronized with the music. Reservations are required.

Garfield Park Conservatory Winterflower Show – Virtual

The Garfield Conservancy organises an annual winter flower show. Although the pandemic is currently preventing visitors from attending in person, you can still attend virtually. This can be a reliable alternative if you are tired of the Christmas lights and want to see something else.

Skating in Maggie Daly Park

While skating in Bean is closed, an ice rink has opened in Maggie Daly Park. This requires non-transferable reserves. Skate rent is $16 and using your own skates is $5.

Ice skating on the Wolves of Chicago rink at Bankway Parkway is again in the spotlight this year. Access to the course is FREE, but a credit card is required for reservations. Guests who do not show up to skate will be charged $8 per person. The rent of the skate is $8.

Snow pipe and Wilmot brewery

If you can go skiing, snowboarding or tubing in Wilmot, there is another way to spend a weekend away. There is a package that includes a bus that leaves downtown Chicago and takes you straight to Wilmot and back, where you can enjoy two hours of snowtubing. The price is $149 and includes dinner, a free beer, a tubing session and a return bus ticket. Tickets for this weekend are sold out, but the weekends at the end of January and February are sold out.

The Bulls continue their journey to the west coast of Los Angeles this weekend, visiting the Lakers and Clippers. Although the odds are against the wall, Billy Donovan’s team regularly starts to perform competitively. Illinois made a historic second half comeback against their northwestern rivals on Thursday night. Brad Underwood’s team is looking to extend their winning series to five games when they host the Maryland Terrapins on Sunday night.

Chicago Bear (8-8) to New Orleans Saints (12-4)

Although the Bears suffered another embarrassing loss for the Packers at the end of the regular season, they managed to secure a play-off spot against the New Orleans Saints. While New Orleans held its first meeting in week 8, its observatory Alvin Kamara will be removed from the KOVID-19 reserve list just before kick-off. Will the Bears be able to keep Kamara or will he run on the defense that was terrible last week? Watch the Bears On Tap podcast for intrigue, analysis and commentary around the game.

NFL and DFS Playoffs

Now that fantasy football is coming to an end, the NFL Wild Card Weekend is one of the biggest sports weekends in the gaming world. There are also DFS pools and numerous other post-season bets. The Fantasy Hour On Tap team has brought you extra DFS games and tips this week, so listen to the podcast to hear their choices and make money.
